Best Cat Apps for iPhone in 2026: Care and Health, Compared

By the Pettify Team · Published

Prices and ratings checked on 17 Oct 2026, US App Store

Pettify is our app. Here is how we compared.

We make Pettify, which includes a care plan with 50 cat breed profiles, mixed breeds included. To keep this page fair, we used only what each developer publishes in the US App Store and on its own website, listed the apps alphabetically, and put Pettify’s weak points in the table with everyone else’s.

Cats are good at hiding that something is wrong, so the most useful cat apps help you notice change early: fewer litter box visits, a smaller appetite, a drop in weight, or a pained look on your cat’s face. These seven apps cover cat care and health on iPhone, from a free pain-scoring tool built by veterinary researchers to full health trackers with reports for the vet.

Quick picks

Labels, not a ranking. Each points to the app whose published features fit that need best, in our judgement.

How we compared

We checked every app on 17 Oct 2026. Prices, in-app purchases, ratings, the date of the latest version and the number of languages come from each app’s page in the US App Store. Features come from the App Store description and, where the table says “Website”, the developer’s own site; Android availability comes from Google Play. Prices are in US dollars.

We searched the US App Store for “cat health tracker”, “cat care” and “cat pain”, and kept apps for looking after a cat’s health and routine that already had ratings, plus Pettify. We left out games for cats, apps that only translate meows, cat-sitting services, and apps that work only with one maker’s device: smart litter boxes, feeders and GPS collars come with their own apps.

We did not install these apps. A “Yes” is what the developer states; “Not stated” means we did not find it in the description or on the website, and the app may still have it. “No” appears only in Pettify’s column, because we know our own app (version 1.2.0, the release with the pee and poop log).

The apps are listed alphabetically, with no overall score, and the quick picks are our judgement. We drafted this page with AI assistance from the sources linked in each card and checked every price, rating and feature against them.

Price and platforms first, then the daily log, health checks and records. Under each “Yes” is where the developer says it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best cat app for iPhone?

It depends on what you need. To check for pain, the free Feline Grimace Scale. For a cat with a chronic condition, Petfetti. With a smart feeder or litter box, Padr. For a free tracker, DogCat. To learn the basics of cat care, Meowz. For a care plan by breed and age with a vet report on Apple devices, Pettify, which is our app.

Is there a free cat health app?

Yes. The Feline Grimace Scale lists no in-app purchases, DogCat says most of its features are free with ads, Padr Basic is free with the last seven days of care, and Petfetti has a free version with core features. Pettify has no free version: $4.99 a month, or $49.99 a year with a 7-day free trial.

Can an app tell whether my cat is in pain?

The Feline Grimace Scale helps you score acute pain from five facial features, each rated 0 to 2; its description says the scale was validated in cats with different medical and surgical conditions. A score can tell you that something may be wrong, not what is wrong, so call your vet when it is high.

Which cat apps track the litter box?

DogCat, NineLives, Padr, Petfetti and Pettify all mention it. Pettify’s log keeps the litter box as a place, stool consistency and warning signs, shows a 7, 30 or 90-day summary with hints such as “No pee for a day”, and puts a 30-day summary in the PDF report for the vet.

Do cat apps work with smart litter boxes and feeders?

Padr says it connects supported PetKit, PetLibro, Neakasa, Smart Life and Home Assistant devices. The other apps here do not mention device links. Smart litter boxes and feeders also come with their makers’ own apps, which we did not compare.

Why is Pettify in this comparison?

Because we make Pettify and it covers cat care. We say so at the top, list the apps alphabetically, and show its weak points in the same table: Apple devices only, 3 ratings, no free version, no device links and no pain-scoring tool.
